Natalie’s house is busy with people coming and going now that there’s a general election about to take place. Determined to be involved in the revolutionary meetings held at her house she sneaks around trying to listen into conversations, decipher their tactics and contemplates whether or not she really needs red boots to be a part of it all.
A list of things that may help her become a revolutionary comes her way, changing the way she sees their sleepy town and those around her.
Natalie soon learns that changing the world is a full-time commitment and school, friends and family begin to take a back seat as she works out her plan. A talk she’s to give at school about her rat gives her plenty of things to ponder and a clear mission in her head.
Now all she needs is money, more rats and some luck!
Her parents are separating but Natalie is too focused on the task in hand to notice, bringing with it crossed messages and unclear boundaries amid her desire to succeed.
Lucy Ann Unwin has created a heart-warming delve into the teenage psyche as the reader follows Natalie through every problem and pitfall that heads her way. Vibrant illustrations from Selom Sunu are spot on for this story of justice, family and appreciating what you already have.
