LANDIS, by Shelly Mack

On the island of LANDIS, young Prince Benjamin wakes up on his sixteenth birthday full of excitement and trepidation.

Today he will receive his powers, but he does not know what those powers will be, and worse, he is filled with the added dread of harbouring even more responsibility. His friends at school are starting to receive their powers too, and some of them are really quite impressive.

His friend is presented with the power of invisibility. How cool is that – he really hopes his power won’t be something rubbish in comparison. Everyone’s powers are useful in some way, and they are strongly advised not to ever use them recreationally (such party-poopers!), but if he is going to get a power, at least let it be better than whatever Elias, the school bully, is getting. When Prince Benjamin is finally given his powers a hush falls across the room. His power isn’t only good…it is the most sought-after power in LANDIS!

Prince Benjamin quickly discovers that with great power comes a great amount of people making the choice to turn to the dark side. He is swiftly drawn into a mystery that leads him to discover just what lurks on the other side of the spooky, mist-filled veil beyond LANDIS’ safe borders, and a whispering voice calls to him from beyond. With the help of his fairy side-kick, it is up to Prince Benjamin to discover who among his friends he can trust and to put his faith in them to help him free what LANDIS once lost.

Shelly Mack’s young adult novel is the first in a new series that features protagonist Prince Benjamin who discovers the true nature of his magical powers as he sets out on an adventure to protect LANDIS from a dark and growing danger.

With a focus on friendship, loyalty, and protection, LANDIS will capture your heart with fairy magic, while also gently including the excitement of first love.

Shelly Mack resides in Scotland, where she draws inspiration for her children’s, young adult, and adult fiction from her faith, family, and school days. LANDIS whisks you away to an island full of fairy magic and a dark, lurking danger and will keep you turning pages until the sun comes up.
