Three books for the Perfect Visit to the Beach: ‘Our Pebbles’, ‘The Ocean At Night’ and ‘An Ocean Full of Stories’

Our Pebbles by Jarvis

Days out with Grandad are the best!

What adventures can be found down by the sea. As Grandad tells tall tales, and shows the way, it’s obvious what a special relationship he and the little boy share.

At pebble beach, they guess the seal’s name, play pirates with the driftwood and tuck into ice-cream. At their favourite place, they settle down to each paint a carefully chosen pebble.

What happens when Grandad moves away though? Can the little boy show his mum the way?

A gentle story of a lovely friendship, ‘Our Pebbles’ shows us the joy that can be found in sharing adventures whilst enjoying the gifts nature offers.

Simply painting a pebble, can bring great happiness and create lifelong memories.

The illustrations by Jarvis, in a very soft palette reflect the story beautifully.

The Ocean At Night by Isabelle Simler

Dive into the ocean  from sunset to sunrise and discover a world of wonderful creatures.

Filled with fascinating  facts and exquisite illustrations, this book is a must for those wishing to learn more about life under the sea.

I particularly liked the simple and memorable  explanation  of how the moon affects the tides!

Did you know that parrot fish sleep in a protective bubble?

Can you find out what is the biggest migration on the planet?

Written and illustrated  by Isabelle Simler.

An Ocean Full of Stories by Angela McAllister, Illustrated by Sally Agar

What an absolutely beautiful book!

I loved delving into this, picking out stories from all over the world. What a lot I learnt.

Packed with fifty folk tales and legends, there is surely a story for everyone.

Perfect for presents and super  for a bedtime story.

Read ‘The Music of the Sea’, a story from Finland, to find out where the music we hear at the beach originates from.

The stories are  filled with every emotion under the sun. Read ‘The Water Lily’, a story from Brazil, to discover what happens to Naiá when she tries to find the moon goddess.

The illustrations by Sally Agar are whimsical and fun.
