The Scream of the Whistle by Emily Randall-Jones

Join Ruby on a time travelling voyage of discovery!

Ruby faces spending a summer in the deserted railway station town of Melbridge at her hippy Gram’s trinket-filled house. Her parents have decided to divorce. Everything she has once known has gone; her family as a unit, her routines, it all feels as if it is out of her control.

Somehow, she thinks, if she can only get her parents together in the same room, they might solve their differences and reunite. Setting out to walk through the night to see her dad who is still in the family home, she accepts a lift on the old steam train ‘The Green Lady’ but all is not as it first seems to be.

Who is the mysterious ticket collector, Cribbins?

Trapped in the past with fellow travellers, Elfie and Malik, can they find a way to escape the ill-fated ‘The Green Lady’?

Steeped in the mystery and wonder of English folklore, ‘The Scream of the Whistle’ is a time-travelling whoosh of an adventure! Beware of the scream of the whistle!

Join Ru as she meets with ghosts, cats, grumpy conductors and perhaps, a new friend for life. Determined, courageous and kind, Ru needs to bring all her focus to solving the mystery of ‘The Green Lady’.

By encouraging others to accept that life is not always calm and orderly, can Ru begin to see a way forward for herself and answer some of the many questions she has.

Can we change the course of history by making brave choices?

Can we learn to accept what we can’t control?

A fabulous read with engaging characters and a mystery to solve!
