Little Green Donkey by Anuska Allepuz was great fun to read out loud, it had my a class full of Reception children giggling to themselves at that super ending.
Allepuz has achieved that wonderful thing – a book about fussy eaters which isn’t in the least bit didactic. Little Green Donkey is chock-a-block full of fun and character.
Little Donkey is totally and utterly fixated on grass. It’s his go to food of choice… for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. In fact, he’s eaten so much he’s even turned a wonderful shade of grass green. Mum in a wonderfully calm manner (top marks, Mum!) tries to persuade him to try something else, but to no avail. You see, ‘oranges are too juicy’ and ‘broccoli is… to green’. What’s a donkey to do? Oh look, carrots. Carrots are good. Little Donkey swaps his green grass obsession for orange carrots… I’ll leave you to join the dots here.
Anuska Allepuz’s Little Green Donkey is delightfully funny, perfect for little ones.
