Don’t Squish a Slug by Yussef Rafik, Illustrated by Riley Samels

In a plea to educate and promote tolerance and understanding of bugs, zoologist and wildlife presenter, Yussef Rafix introduces over forty of our world’s tiniest creatures in an excellent new book.

Sub-divided into Masters of Disguise, Amazing Evolution, Daring Defence, Record Breakers and All Sorts of Relationships, there are facts galore for the eager learner.

Did you know we have midges to thank for one of our favourite foods – chocolate? Find out why in this super book and perhaps you will look at midges in a different light.

I love this quote;

‘Don’t squash a spider, don’t step on ants and definitely  don’t squish a slug!’

Did you know a dragonfly has two huge compound eyes on its head which gives them 360 degree vision?

Having read this book, you will never look at mini beasts in quite the same way again.

Riley Samels’ illustrations, in soft natural colours, are as fascinating as the facts themselves.

Included at the back of the book are a helpful glossary  and index.

I would recommend this book as a wonderful addition to any library and to those readers with a thirst for knowledge about our natural world.

This is a fabulous book to pour over and to enjoy devouring a vast range of  information.

Thank you to Quarto Publishing / Words & Pictures for the review copy
