Dead Real, Written and Illustrated by Poppy T. Perry

Nora Inkwell’s day is not starting as expected.

Having breakfast with her friend Ruby (the one she still can’t quite tell how she really feels) and her cringey seething-at-each-other parents doesn’t quite go to plan when their world is thrown upside down.
Once-lovely neighbours have turned into raging zombies, chomping on anyone that goes near.
They’re heading for her house and there’s no way to escape. Her diligent dad has created a haven for such events and it’s not long before the family are tooled up and ready to fight their way out.
Racing away from their infested street, they realise that the scale of the apocalypse is bigger than anything they’d ever seen before. As they roam from one safe-ish place to another, the zombies move in, intent on claiming their next victims. A refuge is near but can they make it there in one piece?
With a manor house their only point of safety, they stumble across roads and obstacles in their path to get behind its doors in a race against time. However, they’re soon separated as the world around them falls apart. Nora and Ruby’s friendship is tested at every opportunity but it’s not long before they realise that their feelings are genuine and true but will they survive long enough to see where it takes them?
Arriving at the manor brings a whole new perspective to their predicament and Nora must distinguish between a potential truth and sneaky lies if she’s to survive long enough to tell Ruby how she feels, save her family AND hope that the world goes back to normal human activity!
Writer and illustrator, Poppy T. Perry, has created a fantastic illustrated Young Adult novel about love, commitment, understanding of others and the sometimes cruel world we live in when it comes to accepting others.

With a truly magnificent twist that will leave the reader in awe of her storytelling, Dead Real is an addictive page-turner of epic proportions.
