Tracy Darnton, MG & YA reviewer for MyBookCorner, selects her Best Book of 2017…
The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr.
When I looked back at YA books I’d enjoyed this year, I picked this one, mainly because I’m really interested in memory and liked the premise. Flora has anterograde amnesia – she only remembers things for a few hours and has to write herself notes every day. But then she gets the ‘one memory’ that sticks, namely kissing Drake on the eve of his departure to Norway. The book really came alive for me when she follows him to snowy and wild Svalbard with a few mysterious threads to unravel. So it feels a good one to reread at this time of year, snuggled up by the fire.
