A picture book’s re-readability factor is one of my biggest considerations when picking out a story for my own children, or choosing one as a gift – something that make my kids shout “read it again”, it makes me want to shout about them too. Here are three recent gems that ticked that all-important re-readability box…
Are You A Monster?
Great for getting rid of any pent-up, pre-bedtime energy (especially after multiple readings!), Guilherme Karsten’s interactive picture book will have kids romping and roaring and stomping and stamping as the monster character tries to find out if they are monsters too.
The bold contrasting colours of the illustrations are eye-catching, and the owlish glasses are just perfect for the inquisitive little monster. And there will be giggles aplenty when he finds out just how monstrous those little readers can be!
Wolves In Helicopers
Can we take a moment just to enjoy that title? This wonderful picture book, written by super talent Sarah Tagholm is clever take on tackling nightmares with the power of your imagination – something the author clearly has lots of!
Alongside Paddy Donelly’s atmospheric, action-packed illustrations, this story is funny, twisty, and a little bit dark, all ingredients have made it a firm favourite, alongside its empowering, feel good ending!
