The shortlist for Oscar’s Book Prize 2018 has been announced!
Oscar’s Book Prize, now in its fifth year, aims “to celebrate a child’s love for magical stories.” The book prize was set up in the memory of Oscar Ashton who was three-and-a-half when he died from an undetected heart condition in December 2012.
The judging pannel for 2018 is formed of Oscar’s parents James Ashton and Viveka Alvestrand Julia Eccleshare, BBC presenter Katie Derham plus Brigitte Ricou-Bellan, director of books at Amazon UK.
The pre-school books chosen for the 2018 shortlist are as follows…
Lucie Goose by Danny Baker and Pippa Curnick (Hodder)
There’s a Pig Up My Nose by John Dougherty and Laura Hughes (Egmont)
The Secret of Black Rock by Joe Todd Stanton (Flying Eye Books)
Sunk! by Rob Biddulph (HarperCollins)
That Bear Can’t Babysit by Ruth Quayle and Alison Friend (Nosy Crow)
The prize of £5,000 will presented to the winner by HRH Princess Beatrice, on 14th May at St James’s Palace in London.
