Felicita Sala’s Lunch at 10 Pomegranate Street is a beautifully illustrated collection of recipes to feed the soul as well as the tummy.
In each apartment at 10 Pomegranate Street the residents are cooking. From Maria’s guacamole to Mrs Greenpea’s mini-quiches, from Mister Singh’s coconut dahl to Jeremiah’s peanut butter and choc chip cookies, there’s something for everyone to try. The heart-warming tone and ending certainly makes you want to cook something together to share.
I’m the kind of chef who could have done with a clear picture of the finished product, not just the ingredients, so I know what I’m aiming for – but I did like the short and simple instructions. I’d be worried about slopping cookie dough and tomato sauce on such a gorgeous picture book but I guess that’s inevitable for a recipe book – or is it only mine that get like that?
Off to rustle up Mister Ibrahim’s baba ganoush….
