Christmas Eve at the Mellops’ is full of nostalgic Christmas tones and good cheer, with a firm nod to the need to consider others – especially at Christmas time.
Mr Mellops discovers a great article in his newspaper about Christmas tree decorations, this gives Isidor a fabulous idea for a great surprise for his father. It would seem that great minds think alike, and it is not too long before Isidor, Casimir, Ferdinand and Felix ALL turn up with a ‘fine surprise’. Ooops. Four trees are just too many for one house.
The story follows the young Mellops as they work out what to do with the trees – where to take them, and how to make a difference.
A constrained colour palette – cream, green and a light orange glow – provide this Christmas themed picture book with a lovely calm spirit.
This is a Christmas story with out the glitz and fantasy. Christmas Eve at the Mellops’ oozes charm, character and warm Christmas spirit.
