My Book Corner is delighted to welcome Australian author Bronwyn Bancroft, descendent of the Bundjalung people.
Bronwyn is the talented author and illustrator of a plethora of unique picture books including Big Rain Coming (with Katrina Germein), and Why I Love Australia, and most recently Remembering Lionsville published February 2013.
Tell us about you in 25 words or less.
I am a mother of 3 children who I adore. I create everyday and try to be as happy as I can. I have wanted to be creator since I was a very young child. I am passionate about my family and my culture.
What makes you happy?
Creating art makes me happy. Good friends and spending quality time with my children and extended family as well as swimming.
Where have you always wanted to visit, but haven’t made it to … yet?
I would like to go to Scotland but have been extremely busy raising my 13 year old daughter RubyRose as well as heavily commited with the organisations I am involved with.
Where is your favourite place to write & illustrate?
I can create anywhere as my art is my ‘favourite place’.
If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?
People desiring less “stuff”
What’s the best thing about being a published author & illustrator?
The joy that the book brings and the great feedback from children and parents.
What’s the strangest question you’ve ever been asked?
What do I eat? Food…
Who or what inspires you?
Everything in nature inspires me as well as good people.
What is your worst habit?
Wanting to do too much.
Your favourite word(s)?
‘Bundjalung’ because it identifies my culture and the area of my Ancestors.

I love putting all my energy into a book so that the reader can share my love words and creativity.
