It is National Gardening Week.
I’ve selected six rather special books to encourage you and your little readers to start something beautiful in your own gardens, big or small.
Happy gardening!
A Little Guide to Gardening – a wonderful cute, yet incredibly comprehensive guide to gardening … big or small. Sewing seeds, recipes, looking after your garden. It’s all here alongside Jo Elworty’s beautiful illustrations.
The Butterfly Garden – a stunning picture book charting the life cycle of the butterfly.
The Little Gardener – Emily Hughes’s stunning illustrations and narrative tell the story of a little character who absolutely adores his garden … but it all gets a littl too much.
A First Book of Nature – Nicola Davies love and enthusiasm for nature leaps out of every page of this wonderfully thick tome filled to the brim with all sorts of inspiration.
That’s Not A Daffodil! – an all time favourite picture book. This little character is quite convinced that this object, which looks strangely like an onion, can’t possibly be a daffodil …!
The Curious Garden – a classic from Peter Brown, depicting the power of a garden to transform a dull and grey city.
