Beast Feast is a monstrously marvellous picture book by Emma Yarlett, published by Walker Books. As soon as you open the book, you just know it’s going to be something special by the amusing monstrous recipes. I love the recipe for Shepherd Pie (the preparation time for this recipe is as long as it takes to catch a shepherd!). The book also has an extra element of genius in the five fold out letters which are included in the book.
What child doesn’t love a book with flaps?
The story follows what happens after Beast catches his VERY TASTY looking Dinner, who just so happens to be a child. Beast invites his beastly friends to a beast feast and one by one they reply, with gruesome cooking instructions for Beast. Will Dinner convince Beast to change what’s on the menu (because he certainly doesn’t want to be!)?
This vibrant story is full of bright, gorgeous illustrations and puns. Beast Feast is sure to be a hit with children – it’s full of slime, mud and all kinds of gruesomeness, as well as being a tale of friendship.
